Love Story

Nature's Point- Austin, Texas
Born and raised in Richmond, Texas, April grew up dreaming of that special day when she would meet her future husband. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Michael grew up like most guys: terrified of the thought of marriage. As Michael soon found out, all it takes is meeting one special person to put those feelings to rest.

Never having stepped foot in Houston, in July of 2004 Michael packed up his car and moved to Texas to accept a job with the Houston Aeros Hockey team. April, who was still completing her degree at the University of Houston, was working as a nanny for the President of the Aeros.

After the games Michael often joined his colleagues across the street at a classy establishment known as the B.U.S. On February 23rd, 2006, both of their worlds would be changed forever as the two of them met for the first time. What followed was 4 months of Michael relentlessly chasing after April, and April resisting with everything that she had. The newly single April wanted some time to herself. Yet try as she might, April could not resist Michael’s charm and wit, and finally agreed to accompany him to a friend's wedding in Oregon; the two soon fell in love.

As the years passed, it quickly became quite clear that this couple was meant to be together. Through good times and bad, Michael and April always found a way to make things work in the end. They have become each other’s best friends and know how to take care of the other. When April is having a bad day, Michael’s unparalleled humor often soothes the matter. If Michael is being grumpy, April learned to simply feed him an emergency burrito to cheer him up.

Though their interests often differ, their personalities complement each other nicely, and their openness to learn new things has strengthened their relationship. April taught Michael how to survive the summer Texas heat by going to float the river in New Braunfels. She introduced him to Crawfish Boils, Texas Barbeque, and her family took him in as one of their own. Michael introduced April to new places, from Seattle to Atlanta. He taught her about Oregon State Football and still maintains that one of his proudest moments was when April corrected him on a rule while watching a game on television.

They have shared many adventures together, and even were lucky enough to go to Florida last May to watch one of the Space Shuttle Launchings from Cape Canaveral in Florida. But perhaps their biggest adventure together was this past January when they both ran and completed the Houston Marathon!

Though the road ahead may be riddled with obstacles at times, the sky is the limit for Michael and April because they have established their relationship on firm ground. Through each other, the two of them can accomplish anything they desire. We all should take great comfort in knowing that this relationship is a beautiful thing that will only get stronger as the years progress…
